Microsoft has announced the general availability of Dynamics 365 CX MCP Server – Sales, bringing CRM capabilities into supported AI agents and seller experiences. This update allows organisations to access trusted sales data, business logic, and actions across different AI-powered tools without being restricted to a single CRM interface.
Here's what you need to know:
Move from a CRM Destination to a System of Action
Traditionally, CRM has been where sales teams go to find information, update records, and manage processes. With AI agents, sellers can simply express what they want to accomplish while agents retrieve relevant context, reason through information, and take actions on their behalf—all while Dynamics 365 Sales maintains the customer data, business logic, and security controls.
Access 59 Tools for Core Sales Activities
The MCP Server includes 59 tools at general availability, providing reusable building blocks for essential seller workflows. AI agents can combine these tools to complete complex tasks, such as retrieving opportunities, recalculating prices, creating quotes, and converting them into orders, while following existing Dataverse permissions.
Bring Sales Capabilities Across AI Experiences
The server provides a shared capability layer for Microsoft experiences such as Cowork and Sales Agent, as well as compatible customer-built agents and other MCP-enabled AI tools. This means organisations can create focused sales experiences without rebuilding CRM integrations for every application.
Keep Security and Governance in Place
Connections are managed through the Microsoft-hosted Agent 365 Tooling Gateway, which handles authentication to your Dataverse environment. Existing Dataverse roles and permissions continue to govern access, helping organisations extend sales capabilities to AI experiences while maintaining established security and governance controls.
Start Using Dynamics 365 CX MCP Server – Sales
Now generally available, the server offers several ways to bring AI into everyday sales activities. Build an agent in Copilot Studio to prepare sellers for customer calls, create skills for deal reviews and lead triage, or bring Dynamics 365 Sales data and actions into tools your teams already use, including GitHub Copilot CLI, Visual Studio Code, Cowork, and other MCP-compatible clients.
